‘Strategic Advisory Taskforce’ enlisted by Scottish Government.

The Scottish Government have called for a ‘Strategic Advisory Taskforce’ to negotiate the future of Dundee University.

The Taskforce is comprised of experts from across academia, industry and local and national government.

The Taskforce “will be convened to advise on the future success of the University and its impact across the city region” said Shane O’Neill in an all staff email.

The group will be chaired by former Dundee Principal, Sir Alan Langlands.

Langlands was formerly Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leeds and the Chief Executive of the Higher Education Funding Council for England and the NHS in England.

O’Neill said, “the Taskforce will focus on key issues linked to the recovery of the University, such as its teaching offering and its research strengths in key fields such as the life sciences”.

The Taskforce arrives at a crucial time, as many members of the university and beyond have a lack of faith in the UEG’s (mis) management and their methods of achieving recovery.
